Viper/Big Frog Wraps Up Southern Nationals Tour
(July 27, 2025) The 2025 edition of the Southern Nationals tour wrapped from July 22-26 in four events across the states of Georgia and Tennessee. Jimmy Owens and the Viper/Big Frog Motorsports team had their best effort of the week on Tuesday night at Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, Georgia. After earning Fast Time honors during the qualifying session and starting the 40-lap feature from the pole position, Jimmy placed third at the checkers behind only $7,553 victor Zack Mitchell and runner-up Garrett Smith!

On Thursday in a similar $7,553 to win event at Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, Georgia, Jimmy ran as high as second in the 40-lapper before a flat left rear tire helped relegate him to an eleventh place showing. At North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia on Friday evening with a $10,053 payday up for grabs, another left rear flat tire dropped the Newport, Tennessee superstar to a twelfth place effort.

In the $10,053 to win 'Ray Varner Ford 53' on Saturday at the bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee, Jimmy led laps 8-13 of the 53-lap headliner, but unfortunately wound up on his lid on a lap seventeen restart. Leader Dale McDowell broke right in front of the #58V, which resulted in a chain reaction wreck behind him. Jimmy emerged unscathed from the rollover incident and was ultimately placed ninth in the final rundown of the caution-plagued contest. The Viper/Big Frog Motorsports team finished tied for second in the final Southern Nationals points exiting the series finale at Tazewell.
